I have always enjoyed playing sports and doing things outside.  After not taking very good care of myself during most of my 20’s I ended up with a re-occurring back injury from doing construction.  I decided to change my life style and I started working out regularly for the first time. I got hooked on learning as much as I could about Health and Fitness and decided to go to school to be a personal trainer. During this time I started doing CrossFit and realized tough workouts are much more fun in a group and I can help others make positive changes mentally and physically. I am getting close to 40 now and in the best shape of my life. I love helping others make life changes as they become healthier and more fit.

I was a Competitive gymnast from age 9 - 14 and I was a level 10 competitive trampolinist and tumbler. I then tried football in high school and it wasn't my calling. Then I did high school and all star cheer where I competed twice in the world championship. I love that in CrossFit we do something different everyday, I usually have no clue what I will be doing and it allows me to focus on the work in front of me. I also love that everyone is doing the same workout and that each movement can be scaled for anyone's physical ability. I still teach and love gymnastics but feel that CrossFit has taken my training to another level.

I grew up playing organized sports such as soccer and baseball but really fell in love with physical training in my 30's. I began doing high-intensity boot camp style workouts and then jumped into CrossFit in 2013. Learning the different movements and workouts was both addicting and intimidating to me at first having never really lifted weights much before. Since then, I've learned so much about weightlifting, mobility, how to move correctly, body management and how to pace workouts correctly. I also enjoy incorporating distance running and some periodic yoga into my training as well. What really keeps me coming back to Crossfit is the sense of community and support that coaches and other CrossFitters so generously give each other!

Why I love Crossfit:

It has taught me that there’s an athlete inside every one of us.

It has helped me understand what fitness truly is.

It's like Suduko – easy to learn and do, but hard to master.

It's like love – hard to define in a sentence, but easy to see in a moment.

It's is like Florida.  It’s grandma-friendly.

It has “healed” many of my injuries, physical and mental.

...and CrossFit people are awesome.

I grew up playing multiple sports and ended up running Cross Country collegiately my first year of college. The year following I ran 2 half marathons and a full marathon, but decided I wanted something different. I wanted to get stronger. In the spring of 2019 I started classes at CrossFit Cameron park and fell in love with the classes and the workouts. During this time I also coached injury prevention and rehabilitation for the local high schools Track and Field Team. In 2020 I graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Kinesiology Exercise Science from Sac State. I got my L1 in October and love getting to help others get fitter both mentally and physically. I enjoy being able to bring a bit of a scientific approach to fitness, but having fun with it!

Believer in exercise to change peoples lives

Past time bodybuilder

I am a great example of how exercise and the CrossFit community can change someone's life. I lived most of my adolescence feeling like I had to look, and be a certain person. In 2018 I started CrossFit and it changed my life. It honed in the athletic, strong, driven side of me. It tied together a community piece of my life I had been missing. It made me want to get up, work hard, and be a person with mental tenacity. CrossFit is a place of growth, fun, and connection. There's nothing like it in the world.
